New York State Championship 2024
August 30, 2024 - September 02, 2024
Thanks to everyone for joining us in Albany this Labor Day Weekend for the 146th edition of the New York State Championship--
America's longest-running annual tournament!
Congratulations to GM Jianchao Zhou, for winning the Championship Section with a perfect score,
and for GM Joel Benjamin and FM William Graif, for tying for Second-Third!
And Congratulations to FM William Graif, the top-scoring New York player in the Championship Section: the 2024 New York State Champion!
The New York State Chess Association is the USCF's oldest State Chess association, helping to promote Chess in the Empire State (NYSCA is not the same as USCF, the national organization. It is a separate organization from and was started well before the US Chess Federation). You can join NYSCA for $20/year for 4 issues of “Empire Chess” or $12/year for 2 issues. Continental Chess offers a discount to NYSCA members for most of the open tournaments it runs in New York (if you play in enough of our tournaments in a year, the discounts you receive can add up to more than or most of the cost of the annual membership dues you paid)! You do not need to be a resident of New York State to be a NYSCA member. The NYSCA website is www.nysca.net.
The New York State Chess Association is a 501(c)(3) corporation, and contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law (for most individuals, membership dues payments do not qualify as tax-deductible contributions).
One of the New York State tournaments which NYSCA helps to promote, besides the New York State Championship, is the New York State Girls' Championship, November 9-10, 2024 in New York City.
Thank You Very Much for your support of America’s longest-running State Chess Association and for supporting Chess in New York State!
When your game is over, please confirm the result with your opponent by signing each other's notation sheets.
After you have done this, please also write the result of your game on the yellow pairing sheet in the hall.
If your result is not reported correctly, this may adversely affect your pairings, rating and possible prize.
Thank You!
